        Go For It!

We all have dreams of who we want be.  Where we want to go and what we want do.  But how many actually accomplish those dreams?  How many end up with the fame and fortune they hoped for?  It’s easy to live in a dream world, but not so easy in the real world.

Some of us just drift along hoping we will end up in the right place at the right time and things will just fall into our laps.  Dream on!  It simply doesn’t happen like that for most.  Most of us never actually achieve what we dream of doing.  Instead of being rich and famous we fall short - often a long way short!   Somewhere along the way we get side-tracked and lose interest, hope, confidence, or all of the above and end up going nowhere.

Failing to achieve dreams effects people in different ways.  Most of us learn to live with failure, but for some it can be devastating and could lead to suicide.  For others the feeling of disillusionment can lead to anger, or resentment.  They start to hang out with wrong crowd and get into trouble, or seek solace by joining a radical group that enables them to act out some form of revenge.  Many will settle for second best and end up vaguely discontented and unhappy for the rest of their lives.  Unfortunately the outcome can be tragic not only for them but others as well.

It doesn’t have to be that way!

If you turn to God you will find help especially in troubled times.  Build a relationship with Him and you will find peace of mind and receive great blessings and achieve things that are way beyond your wildest dreams!  Things that no one has heard, or seen, or even imagined possible! “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.” (I Corinthians 2:9).  It doesn’t matter about your current circumstances; who you are, what you’ve done, or haven’t done, we all have the incredible potential.  No matter what our status, what our gender, or ethnic background we can achieve the impossible if we turn to God.

Look at what Jesus Christ has achieved.  Right now he, “…is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:2).  He sits with God the Father ruling the whole universe. Imagine that!  Do you have that sort of potential?   Yes!  The Bible says we can all be perfected, “Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:” (Ephesians 4:13).  It may seem impossible when we look at ourselves in our current situation, but look what Jesus, “With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26).

And like Christ we can be sons and daughter of God the Father, “…and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.” (II Corinthians 6:18).  Had you ever though that possible?  No matter how far, how wide, or how long you search you will not find any other god, religion, government, corporation, or individual can give you anything remotely like this.  What an incredible future awaits you.

What do you need to achieve this?   You need faith!  You need to believe that Jesus Christ, the one who now sits at the right hand of God the Father has the power to give those who have faith all the things they need in this life to attain the glory of being sons and daughters of God, “…to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ: Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:  Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” (II Peter 1:1-4).

If you are prepared to believe – if you have faith, he will give you all that you need to prepare you for your future, “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:2).  Imagine being part of the royal family that rules the entire universe and beyond.  This is no fairy tale dream – it is real!  It is a promise from the one who has the power to give you these things.

Those who believe and repent of their former ways and are baptised into the name of Christ, will receive the Holy Spirit, “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost (Spirit)” (Acts 2:38).  The Holy Spirit is a portion of the very essence, mind and nature of God Himself.  It is the same Spirit that is in the Father, Jesus Christ and now you.

The Holy Spirit can be likened to a down payment on success, “That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.  In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.” (Ephesians 1:12-14).

It will give you the ability to add to your faith, “And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.  For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (II Peter 1:5-8).  And when you have added these things you will achieve your potential, you will not fall short, you will not fail, “Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.” (II Peter 1:10-11).

It doesn’t matter if you have not achieved your dreams so far, or have become disillusioned through failure, if you are prepared to believe what God has said you can be given all the things you need to achieve far greater things than you have ever dreamed about.

Believe it and go for it!
